The Jerky Boys’ Johnny Brennan Special Guest at Orange County Fair Speedway’s 58th Annual Eastern States Weekend
In 1989, actor, film writer, and voice actor Johnny Brennan formed a comedy act consisting of recording prank calls he would make to unsuspecting recipients. Each call was made in character, usually with over-the-top voices influenced by Brennan’s youth growing up in New York. In 1993, the first Jerky Boys album is released and it would go on to sell enough copies to become certified platinum and develop a worldwide following.
One of the settings of Brennan’s youth to inspire his comedy was the legendary Orange County Fair Speedway. Having first attended in 1966, he remembers leaving the races with a picture of prolific OCFS driver, Will Cagle.
“As a kid you fell in love with the speedway, you fell in love with the cars…it was like nothing else, it was the greatest form of entertainment” recalled Brennan.
Younger fans may be more familiar with Brennan’s character “Mort” from TV’s Family Guy and may be surprised to learn that he is also a race fan and regular attendee at OCFS. Who better to join the great Tim Pitts in the booth than a lifelong race fan and world-renowned voice actor? Can fans expect to hear a little Sol Rosenberg, Frank Rizzo (Brennan’s most recognizable Jerky Boys characters) or Mort from Family Guy over the PA?
