The $25K To Win 2021 DirtCar Big Block Points Series Championship Explained

The $25K to win, yet to be officially named DirtCar Big Block Modified Track Championship at OCFS will introduce an exciting new format to Big Block racing at The House of Power. the 12 race series features a mix of special format or long-distance races and regular Saturday Night 30-lap feature races, but the major change comes in the form of a new "playoffs" style system designed to produce consistently exciting Big Block racing all season. It will also allow for both local competitors and outside invaders to be competitive for the points championship by winning into the "playoffs".  

Modified points will be distributed as listed in OCFS's normal point system beginning with the opening event on April 3rd. Following the July 10th event the top 8 eligible drivers will be determined. All race winners will be guaranteed a spot with the balance of positions filled by point standings. (All Big Block events will use variety of qualifying procedures. NO handicapping.)

Following the July 10th event the “Final 8” will have their points reset accordingly;(Positions will be determined by your current position in overall points.) 1st-2015, 2nd-2012, 3rd-2010, 4th-2008, 5th-2006, 6th-2004, 7th-2002, 8th-2000.

From 9th on in points will maintain their point totals and will continue to accumulate until the end of the point season.

Starting with the July 29th Battle of the Midway and continuing for the next 3 race events from 8/12, 8/21, 8/28 the “Final 8” will accumulate points towards elimination night. Win and your in, with the balance of the “Final 4” determined by points.

The race to determine the 2021 DirtCar modified track champion will take place on September 2nd. The “Final 4” will be in a battle for finishing position as the highest finisher will determine the Track Championship and winner of the $25K prize. The final order of the “Final 4" being determined again by finishing position. Balance of remaining field will be determined solely by points.

Big Block Points Series Events:

The first race of the 2021 season, The Orange County Oval Kickoff, will feature a 40-Lap, $4,000 to win Big Block Modified raced with Sportsman division supporting.

The Big Block Points Series continues with its second race, a traditional 30-Lap feature supported by Sportsman and Street Stock divisions.

On this Thursday show, the Big Blocks return for the third race in their 2021 series, a special 75-lap feature with twin 25-lap qualifying events. Supporting divisions TBD.

The Annual OCFS Nostalgia Night returns for 2021 with a 30-lap Big Block Points Series race and the Sportsman Division supporting. In addition to racing, dozens of vintage race cars will be on display as well as a huge driver autograph session. More details and guests TBA.

The much anticipated “Revenge Redraw” returns to OCFS in 2021 for the fifth event in our Big Block Points Series. After qualifying, each Big Block driver will draw a number and they must give that starting spot to another competitor in the redraw group, creating a starting lineup built purely on revenge, or maybe friendship? Supporting Division TBD.

Celebrate America’s independence with 100 laps of Big Block Modified racing action! The sixth event in our Big Block Points Series features dual 50-lap features. And, returning for 2021, USAC East Coast Wingless Sprint cars will also be in tow to celebrate this great nation all part of a whole weekend of live events at the Orange County Fairgrounds!

Now on its seventh event, the OCFS Big Block Points series locks in its top 8 for the points championship after this 30-lap Saturday night feature. Adding to the excitement, Small Blocks, Sportsman and Street Stocks are also featured!

The return of the annual Orange County Fair means the return of fair food, rides, games, exhibits and all the sights sounds and smells of the county fair. It also signals the return of the Super DIRT Series and some incredible racing at OCFS. The SDS Battle of the Midway will be a show up points race for the OCFS Big Block Points Series. On a special Thursday night show, OCFS celebrates our over 100 years of history as America’s (possibly the world’s) oldest continuously operating racetrack! From our roots as a horse track known as the Harry Clay Oval, to the Victory Speedway days of the 60’s, we pay tribute to it all with this 102-Lap Big Block Modified points series race.

On Saturday August 21 the Big Block Modifieds will get another opportunity to score some championship points in a 30-lap feature, supported by the Sportsman and Street Stock divisions. We also celebrate our Service People and First Responders with admission specials.

Saturday August 28th's Big Block Race will narrow the race for the championship down to only the top 4 drivers. Only they will be eligible to win the $25,000 Big Block Championship awarded to the winner of Thursday September 2nd‘s Big Block Championship Race. The seasons for 358 Modifieds, Sportsman and Street Stocks conclude, and 2021 champions will be crowned

After 50-Laps of Big Block Modified racing action, a champion will be crowned! $25K is on the line, and only our Final Four will be eligible to win it, but that won't stop the rest of the Northeast’s best from gunning for the win with a healthy purse to go along with it.
