EASTERN STATES WEEKEND---A CELEBRATION OF SPEED!
Three days of non-stop racing action

MIDDLETOWN, NY (October 01)……..For the 48th consecutive year, the historic Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York will be the site of Eastern States Weekend and the headline Eastern States 200, the oldest consecutively-run championship event for dirt track Modified stock cars in the country.

The inaugural Eastern States race, on October 28, 1962, a one-day meet at the end of the racing season, was won by legendary stock car driver Frankie Schneider. Now on October 16-18, 2009, Eastern States Weekend is three action-packed days of high speed racing excitement featuring three divisions of Modified stock cars, late model Pro Stock and Pure Stocks, 305 Sprint Cars, and Vintage Modifieds.

Racing begins on Friday, October 16, with practice and WLR Construction time trial for both the Modifieds and 358 Modifieds. The 358 Modifieds then return to the five-eighths-mile Hard Clay track for a series of qualifying heat races to determine the starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s 100-lap championship race. In addition, the limited 305 Sprint Cars will compete in a series of heat and consolation races to determine the starting lineup for their Saturday evening 25-lap feature.

On Saturday, October 17, the racing is virtually non-stop. There are qualifying heats for the Modifieds, last chance consolation races for the 358 Modifieds, and then the 100-lap 358 Modified feature race. After a short break, the Sportsman division takes to the speedway for their time trials, heat and consolation races, and 50-lap Sportsman championship feature race. Joining the Sportsman for the evening’s program will be the Pure Stocks in a pair of 20-lap championship races for the Amateur and Veteran classes. And to add a final touch to the excitement, the 305 Sprint Cars will crown their victor following a 25-lap feature race.

All this leads to the Sunday, October 18 finale, the 48th Annual Eastern States 200 Modified Championship race. The day begins at 9:00 AM with the annual Pit Party when all fans are invited to join the racers along the track’s historic homestretch. Cars from all Orange County’s racing divisions will be on display, and drivers will be on hand to greet fans and sign autographs.

Following the Pit Party, racing gets underway with last chance Modified consolation races, Pro Stock qualifying races, the Pro Stock 30-lap feature, trackside ceremonies, and the headline 48th Annual Eastern States 200.

Advance tickets, camping, and parking permits are available at the Speedway Office during regular business hours, or credit card sales (Visa and MasterCard) by calling 845-342-2573.
